National 3/4/5

The Admin and IT (AIT) Courses aim to develop learners’ administrative and IT skills, to perform a range of administrative tasks, and, to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations.

Each Course aims to enable learners to develop:

  • An understanding of the role of administration
  • An understanding of workplace legislation
  • An appreciation of good customer care
  • IT skills and use them to perform administrative tasks – including using current technologies to gather and communication information
  • Administrative and organisational skills to co-ordinate and supporting small-scale events

Admin and IT comprises of 3 units:

  • Administrative Theory and Practices
  • IT Solutions for Administrators
  • Communication for Administrators

Each Course contains a significant practical component – encouraging the integration of skills, knowledge and understanding through practical investigative tasks.

Admin and IT uses real-life contexts which make it relevant to the world of work, where learners are encourage to acquire a range of essential skills for life, work or further learning.  Its uniqueness lies in developing IT skills in administration-related context.

 

National 6/7 (Higher/Adv Higher)

The purpose of this Course is to develop learners’ advanced administrative and IT skills, to enable them to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations in a supervisory administrative positions.

The Course aims to enable learners to develop:

  • An understanding of the role and the importance of administration in the workplace
  • A range of advanced IT skills for organising, processing and managing information
  • A range of skills to effectively communicate complex information using a range of ICT
  • Skills in managing the organisation of events

 

The Course is a blend of applied, exploratory learning and related theory, and, uses real-life contexts, enabling learners to work towards industry standards in IT in an administration-related context.

Learners are encouraged to develop skills which support independent learning and the use of initiative, problem solving, research and evaluation skills, and, also provide opportunities for team working.
