Choosing Food Technology in S3 allows pupils to continue their Broad General Education, which prepares them for the National SQA courses in S4.

Pupils complete a course in ‘Health & Food Technology’ at National 3, 4 or 5

Health & Food Technology not only is a very relevant academic qualification, but also an essential Life Skill and provides Skills for Work

 

There are three units of study:-

  • Food for Health – continuing the study of Nutrition and Healthy Eating
  • Food Product Development – function of ingredients and the creation of  food products
  • Contemporary Food Issues – looking at consumer, ethical and environmental issues in the choice of food

 

All units of work contain both practical cookery and theoretical work. All units of work also have homework booklets which will help to consolidate class work.
